Dr. Ron has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from many individuals over the years. Dr. Ron matriculated
at Johns Hopkins University where he majored in Psychobiology under the guidance of several world-renowned professors.
He attended medical school at the University of Miami where he learned to care for individuals of various cultures.
He then completed a year of Medical Internship at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, which was followed with both
Adult and Child Psychiatry Residency Training at L.A.C. U.S.C. Medical Center. Dr. Ron is a Certified Diplomat of the
American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, Specializing in both Adult and Child Psychiatry. Dr. Ron has also
been certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, signifying his excellence in the practice of Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Ron has been certified by the State of California as a Qualified Medical Evaluator and is a Certified Employee Assistance
Professional.
Dr. Ron has treated people from multiple cultural backgrounds that suffer from a whole assortment
of medical and psychological illnesses. Cultural differences and similarities have always fascinated Dr. Ron.
He spent several summer vacations visiting foreign nations and studying their cultures, including spending time in the jungles
of Ecuador meeting and working with several different tribes and their “medicine men”. Dr. Ron has learned
a holistic approach to medicine that has served him and his patients well.
Dr. Ron has always added the “human
dimension” to psychiatry in all the variety of positions that he has held. During the past twenty years he has
functioned as the Regional Medical Director for several large behavioral-managed-care companies as well as several large psychiatric
hospitals. As the Chief of Psychiatric Emergency Services at Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles and as
an Assistant Professor in the UCLA Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department, Dr. Ron taught young physicians how to integrate
the physiological problems with the “cultural-emotional” difficulties to formulate more effective treatment plans.
Dr. Ron Zodkevitch is most well-known for is his monthly “Ask Dr. Ron” column in Family Circle Magazine.
He is also renowned for radio persona “Dr. Zod”. For several years, Dr. Zod was the co-host with Dr. Drew
Pinsky, functioning as the psychiatrist on the popular “Loveline" radio show that airs throughout the country.
He had the ability to quickly focus on a problem and to get the caller to “open up” and freely discuss issues
that most individuals would find embarrassing. He successfully handled multiple live suicide phone calls that earned
him respect and appreciation. Dr. Ron is also known as the “psychiatrist to the Hollywood Stars” due to
his work in private practice with many celebrities.
Now, with the opportunity of bringing his expertise to the
internet arena, he's looking forward to helping and entertaining thousands more people in need of support.
